Over thanksgiving break my family and I went to Ohio to spend the holiday with my aunt and my two cousins( a seven year old boy and a 5 year old girl). While it is always nice to see family who live far away it was disappointing to see that my seven year old cousin is turning into a spoiled brat. It shocked me to see that not only did this seven year old have the newest xbox on the market, he also had an Ipad, an electric guitar(doesn't even play guitar), and basement filled with toys. To make matters worse, he spent an afternoon crying about how he(a seven year old) wants a TV in his room, after he spent the morning browsing his ipad for a new Ipod, stating "that he did not want a used one."
While it sucks to see my cousin turn into a brat, it it isn't his fault and in seeing him I am thankful in my up-bringing. For when I was young I had to scrap for months to get $40 to buy a used playstation 2 that barely worked. Even though all my toys were good where powered by imagination, I am grateful for my parents in not spoiling my sisters and I. Due to this we learned to be thankful for everything we had, the value of a dollar and to always recognize that others are not as fortunate as you...and we aren't spoiled brats😄.
